2683. Councillor Vacancy
Katherine Wilson was co-opted as a member of the Parish Council and signed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.
2684. Best Kept Village competition - results
Sutton Veny was placed 3rd in its category this year. The Clerk read the judge’s report to the Councillors present; areas highlighted for improvement are signposts for public footpaths in the area of St Leonard’s Church and frequency of grass mowing at the village green.
2685. Settlement Boundary Consultation
No Objections to revised settlement boundary.
2686. Maintenance of public footpaths & bridleways
The Clerk is investigating the schedule of mowing/clearing the public footpaths and bridleways in Sutton Veny with Paul Millard, Rights of Way Officer at Wiltshire Council. Carried forward to October meeting.
2687. Christmas Tree – Initial discussions
Provisional date for the tree lighting ceremony and carol singing is Saturday 2nd December, with the erection of the tree taking place during the preceding week. This is subject to delivery availability, to be arranged by Cllr Walker. Refreshments will once again be provided by the Parish Council.

2691. Clerk’s report and correspondence received
Defibrillator – Possible locations for a second defibrillator were discussed. The Clerk will write to owners of The Woolpack to ask if they might allow it on the front of their building. The annual defibrillator awareness session will take place on Thursday 21st September at 7pm in the Village Hall.
Wiltshire Area Board in conjunction with the Woodland Trust are organising a scheme to plant 10,000 trees across the county next year to commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1. Sutton Veny will register for the scheme.
