MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SUTTON VENY PARISH COUNCIL held on Thursday 7TH December 2017

Present: Cllrs Oxlade (Chair), Goodman, King, Walker & Wilson

2722. Acceptance of apologies for absence

The meeting was adjourned to allow members of the public the opportunity to raise any issues

2723. Open session for members of the public
A resident of the village spoke in favour of planning application 17/09988/VAR – Kingsdown Farm

Minutes of the meeting held on 2nd November 2017 were circulated prior to this meeting and were accepted as a true record.

2726. Finalise 2018 Precept Demand
The Councillors discussed budgets and projects for next year and a precept demand of £12,686.04 was agreed. This figure is an increase of £200 from 2017, but will represent a 0% increase in the council tax charge passed on to residents.

2727. Paths Improvement Grant Scheme
Applications for improvements (not maintenance) of local footpaths have been invited via the Area Board. The Parish Council will suggest surface improvements the path near North End Farm and a replacement kissing gate near to the Longbridge Deverill Trading Estate.

2728. Chairman’s Report
The erection of the Christmas tree was undertaken by a group of volunteers to whom the Chairman extended his thanks, with a special mention to Chris Arnold for his invaluable help again this year. Thanks also to Brian Long for the loan of his generator and flood light for the illumination switch on and carol singing, also deemed a success again this year and very well attended.
The Chairman informed the meeting that Rev Alison Morley will sadly be leaving the village next year.
Considerations for the recipient of the Community Award in 2018 will be discussed at the next meeting.

2731. Clerk’s report and correspondence received
Tasks for the Parish Steward were sought; cleaning Springhead bus shelter and village signs.
An update was given regarding the allotments; plot 13 has been leased to a new tenant and we are currently waiting for plot 6 to be cleared after which it can be re-allocated.

The meeting closed at 19:30

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on 1st February 2018 starting at 7:00pm in the Village Hall.
