St Leonards Chancel and the Long Family - query.

Post by WallisLong » Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:00 pm

Hello to Sutton Veny residents.

Can anyone in Sutton Veny confirm for me that my grandfather, Robert William Long and his two brothers, Ernest Charles Long and Walter Seymour Long, have some connection with the restoration of the chancel at St Leonards please. Unfortunately I did not obtain sufficient information on this matter from my father (Geoffrey Robert Wallis Long) prior to his death 20 years ago, and am now curious. I am aware that many of my ancesters came from Sutton Veny and that Great Uncle Ernest is buried in the grave yard at St Leonards (he had been Dean at Exeter Cathederal), my grandfather is buried in Chitterne along with his wife (Helen nee Wallis), and Walter is buried in South Africa having emigrated there between the wars.

If anyone can assist me I would appreciate it. I am currently in the UK on a visit from Perth, Western Australia, where I moved to in 1986.

Many thanks. Regards Liz Wallis-Long and temporary UK mobile 07706 580 641
