CHURCHYARD MAINTENANCE UPDATE
The call for volunteers to help in the churchyard has resulted in a pool of people approaching a dozen strong. It is hoped that the numbers will continue to grow and all offers from young or old, male or female, working or retired/unwaged, will be gratefully received*. An internet based list of regular and one-off tasks has been compiled and will be maintained by the members. The aim is to allow the group to run with the minimum of organisation; allowing volunteers to do what they can when they can.
The inaugural gathering took place at 1100 on Thurs 10 Apr and subsequent Thursdays at this time will continue to be the focus for the bulk of the group. The path to the church door was trimmed back and the Memorial Garden was tidied. The grass to the front of the church was mown and will now be left until late July for wild flowers. The remainder of the churchyard will continue to be mown on a high setting and the paths will be kept short.
The labyrinth/reflective path has been mown in the churchyard extension (see picture). Despite its compact size it contains about 150 yds of path and it takes about 2-3 minutes to get to the centre. Do come and experience it!
(*Please contact Richard Jackman [840 899 or firstname.lastname@example.org] if you would like to join the group.
