I have just received the following:
In the past week there have been a number of incidents where persons, posing as Police Officers, have visited a number of elderly persons and having gained access into their homes have then stolen cash and other property.
This is very concerning as it seriously affects the trust that persons, especially the elderly and more vulnerable in our society, have towards the Police.
May I please notify this information to all your members to ensure that, if visited by a Police Officer or other official, they properly check that the callers are genuine before allowing them access into their homes or providing any personal information. Where doubt exsists all persons are advised to telephone the Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 to seek advice/assistance. Your assistance is appreciated
