I have recently received the following:
Just to keep you up to date with what's going on. There is a scam which at the moment has only effected business addresses but it something to note -
During the evening of Saturday 14th November 2009, two premises in Warminster were targeted by fraudsters.
A male telephoned the IP claiming to be from an adjacent premises, he stated that a parcel was being delivered and as he was not present asked if the parcel could be delivered to the address and that the delivery fee be paid, which he would reimburse. A short while later a male purporting to be a courier arrived and handed over a large envelope and asked for £69.97 delivery fee.
At one location the IP asked to see the documentation the offender went to get them from his van and did not return. The envelope was opened and found to contain a magazine.
At the second location the monies were paid and when opened by the IP, who became suspicious, the parcel was found again to only contain a magazine.
One offender is described as being White, scruffy looking, medium height and build, glasses, wearing a black woollen hat and black jacket. Second offender is described as being a white male, smartly dressed in a suit wearing gloves. The two premises were business addresses.
We have also suffered 2 arson attacks within the past 2 weeks in the Bishopstrow area, the first was a caravan which was set alight and the second was a barn full of hay and straw.
As always, please make note of any suspicious persons or vehicles seen in your area and keep reporting any incidents.
