A house full of gifts!

Remember that this time of year offers many opportunities for thieves and burglars. Do not leave gifts on view in your car (put them in the boot) or in your house (keep them upstairs and/or draw your curtains). The newspapers are sure to report thefts of presents from under the tree - DO NOT let the...

Cold calling - fresh activity

I have received two reports of a door-to-door salesman in Sutton Parva and SV High Street. In one case he asked an elderly resident if he could come in for a glass of water. The resident sensibly refused and informed her neighbour. If met with requests like this, residents are reminded that they sho...

Theft of trailer

A trailer was stolen from the eastern end of the High Street on the night of Wednesday 23rd. November 2005. It is a Proto, 7ft x 4ft, aluminium, single axle with 13 inch wheels and a spare wheel underneath. Is was locked securely and could not be towed, so a truck or van was probably needed to remov...

Stephen, Nice to hear from you again. Glad you are enjoying Cyprus - it is raining here today, but we have had a wonderful autumn. As you will see, not a lot of activity on the SV web site. It is useful to have the Parish Council minutes, though. There seems to be commercial activity connected with ...

Upper case for correction, not shouting! That was over a year ago, anyway - not that it is much busier now.

I have reported this to PC Brian McAuley. It may just be "revellers" or youngsters - but any suspicious activities should be noted and passed on to the police.

Dark deeds in Duck Street

As most residents will know, there were three episodes of theft in the Duck Street area during August. Builders tools, plant and household fittings were stolen. The thieves must have used a van or lorry to take away their spoils and anyone who might have any information or suspicions about strange v...

There were three when we came! But would a village shop be used or would we all still go to Safeway (aka Morrisons)?

Tarmac cowboys

There have been reports of offers to "use up spare tarmac" around the village. The exorbitant cost and the poor quality of any work done lead us to advise householders not to agree to any impromptu work but to seek quotes from reputable local companies. Please contact me if you have any queries. Pet...
