Re: Maps of the WW1 camp/s?

I have done some research on the locations of the camps in the local library.

There is now a map on the web site here: http://suttonveny.co.uk/1st-world-war.html that has the locations of the camps.

Re: Maps of the WW1 camp/s?

I have a rough idea as there are still piles of rubble now grassed over in some fields and a field has the name Hospital Field. I will do some digging (not literally !) and see what I can fi...

New Fromelles Military Cemetery

The disastrous attack at Fromelles, France, on the night of 19 July 1916, the first engagement undertaken by the Australian 5th Division on the Western Front, also proved to be the most costly. By the time the action was called off the next morning, the Australians had lost 5,533 men killed, wounded...

Re: It is very quiet!

The web address is on the back of the Wylye Team newletter and I put the odd advert into the Village Hall newsletter - which I confess, I have not done for some time - so I will do another one ! Interestingly enough, if you enter Sutton Veny into Google, the web site is the first link and the messag...

Re: Speeding in the High Street

John, When the traffic is heavy then that is in itself a traffic calming measure. The problem I think (correct me if I am wrong) is when the traffic is light and cars can speed down the road without having to wait for cars coming in the opposite direction. What sort of traffic calming measures do yo...

Solution - Sending Email Problem with Vista & BT Broadba

Just to say if anyone else suddenly finds that they cannot send emails (but can receive) with BT broadband and Vista, the solution is to change the outgoing SMTP setting from the default to 587. It took me days to try and track down the problem but I found the solution on a Vista solutions web site ...

Old Pictures of the Anzac Graveyard

Julian Frost has very kindly provided some old photographs of the Sutton Veny Anzac Graveyard, one of which must have been taken soon after the Austrailians were buried. They are now on the Sutton Veny Web Site under Pictures and the link is here: http://suttonveny.co.uk/1st-world-war-pictures.html ...
